Recently, a screenshot of a private message exchange between a client and an architect was shared on the Facebook page of “Palacio Architectural Services.” In the conversation, the client inquired about the cost of an architectural design for a 150-square-meter lot.
The architect responded by quoting a fee of ₱105,000 for the floor area, including printing and revisions. However, it seems that the client found the price too expensive, and suggested that they have the design made by their godchild, who is currently an architecture student and can do it for free.
The architect, understanding the client’s concern, responded politely and told the client to inform them if they changed their mind. The client, however, persisted and even asked for a discount.
The conversation has sparked discussions online about the value of professional services and the importance of respecting the work and expertise of professionals. Many netizens expressed their support for the architect and emphasized the need to pay for quality work.
This is not the first time that a client has been criticized for trying to negotiate lower fees or asking for free services from professionals.
