The lewd comments on her figure saddened Xyriel Manabat
Kapamilya actress Xyriel Manabat reveals the effect of “bastos” comments she received when she shared a particular photo back in 2020.
Xyriel rose to fame as a child star. Teleserye fans loved her adorable face and her ability to make them cry with her dramatic lines. Amid her high popularity status, she chose to take a break from showbiz.
Previously, the 19-year-old actress shared that it was her choice to focus on her personal life so that there will be a balance.
Xyriel Manabat became active on social media in 2020 as many netizens took notice of her post. She shared a tight, body-hugging white shirt that flaunted her figure. Apparently, this surprised many netizens as Xyriel had a big transition from being a child star to a teenager.
Unfortunately, her photos received “bastos” or below-the-belt comments which are inappropriate. Xyriel shared her thoughts on this in a video posted on Star Magic’s YouTube Channel, based on the article in PEP.
“Binabastos, ino-objectify, sine-s=xual assault in a way,” the Dirty Linen actress stressed. She saw edited posts showing that hands are on her private part while some justified their lewd comments by saying that it is because Xyriel’s photo is “kamanyak-manyak.”
The actress admitted that this affected her. With this, she did ways in order to deal with the issue. “Na-overcame ko po siya. Gumawa po kami ng legal action and nag-therapy po ako sa mga ganun kong nababasa and nakikita. Kasi kailangan kong i-prioritize ang mental health ko, kasi hindi po talaga helpful ang ganong nakikita ko,” Xyriel Manabat said.
When the actress posted that photo, she was just 16 years old. In the video, she also answered the body-shaming comments that she received.
