Morissette Amon Ready to Duet with Jake Zyrus after Compared by Mrs Pempengco
Asia’s Phoenix Morissette Amon admitted that she is ready to collaborate with Jake Zyrus after being compared by Raquel Pempengco, Jake’s mother.
The Filipina singer finally responds to Raquel Pempengco’s diatribe comparing her to Charice Pempengco. Mrs. Pempengco went viral on social media after making accusations against David Foster and Alanis Morissette.
She stated that Charice, who is now known as ‘Jake Zyrus’ following his transition, was superior to Morissette. The controversy began when David Foster, one of Charice’s previous partners, chose Morissette to play at his show in Manila.
“Alam ko ang mga timbre ng boses na hinahanap mo DF (David Foster).. Sinabi ko naman sa inyo noon pa… nag iisa lang ang boses na yan. Kahit kanino mo pa ipakanta yang song mo.. Di mabibigyan ng hustisya,” Raquel said.
“NO GOOSEBUMPS.. NO STANDING OVATION.. Nothing compares…. Nag iisang legendary ng Pilipinas si Charice Pempengco at para sa kaalaman ng lahat. Hindi po si DF ang nagpasikat sa kanya kundi si OPRAH. Nireject nga noon ni DF si Charice. Kaya wag umasa na may isasama pa… Masasaktan lang,” she added.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Pep.ph, Morissette appears to dismiss Mrs. Pempengco’s comparison. She even stated her willingness to share the stage with Jake. She confessed that she is a fan of Jake.
“It would be my honor. I’m a fan kasi kaya parang, ‘Ohhh, pinapakinggan ko lang ito dati tapos eto magkasama na.’” she said.
Morissette also emphasized Jake’s influence to the industry. She claimed that it was because of the latter that great musicians such as David discovered Filipinos’ singing abilities.
“I’m sure, that also prompted for David to come back to the Philippines because of working with Jake or Charice at that time, parang nakikita niya na ang dami pala na talagang magaling sa Pilipinas.” she stated.
