BI Arrested a South Korean National Wanted of Swindling in CDO
The personnel of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a South Korean national who is allegedly wanted for swindling in Cagayan de Oro (CDO).
The BI detained a Korean person in 2017 on suspicion of fraud against fellow Koreans. The fugitive is also living illegally in the Philippines, according to the BI, and was issued a deportation warrant in November 2022.
Park Sang Hyun, 63, was named as the suspect in a report from BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco. He was apprehended by BI fugitive search unit (FSU) agents in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.

The arresting agents were equipped with a deportation warrant issued by the Commissioner in November of last year, based on the report. Tansingco stated that he will be deported and barred from re-entering the nation due to his inclusion on the blacklist of undesirable aliens.
“He will be deported as soon as we have obtained the required clearances for his departure. Consequently, he is perpetually banned from re-entering the Philippines due to his inclusion in our immigration blacklist of undesirable aliens,” according to BI chief Norman Tansingco.
According to BI-FSU acting commander Rendel Ryan Sy, the Korean was issued an arrest order by an Incheon district court in 2019. He was charged in 2017 with scamming another Korean of more than USD61,000.
Park was accused of failing to deliver second-hand clothing to the victim, which the latter intended to resale online. The foreigner would be imprisoned in the BI facility in Taguig City’s Camp Bagong Diwa while awaiting deportation.
