Falling Coconut Tree Lead to the Death of 2 Motorcycle Riders
Two (2) motorcycle riders died after allegedly being hit by a falling coconut tree in Negros Oriental.
Two persons were killed after being hit by a falling coconut tree on National Highway in Jimalalud, Negros Oriental. According to the report, they were riding their motorcycle at noon on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, when they were hit by a tree.
According to the initial investigation, the two fatalities were siblings. Police identified the victims as Clyde Vincent Sarsuelo Magos, 31, and his younger brother, Carl Darwin Sarsuelo Magos, 23.
They were taken to the hospital for medical care and later referred to Guihulngan City, where they were pronounced dead on arrival, based on the report. The brothers were supposed to go to the beach, according to PSSg Joey Patoc, when the accident occurred.
Further investigation revealed that it was only a little root holding the coconut tree that caused it to fall. Families and acquaintances of the two are mourning their untimely deaths.
Meanwhile, during Holy Week, 21 individuals died and nine others were injured in various vacation incidents across Luzon as families took advantage of the easing of COVID-19 travel restrictions and the long weekend. Most of the incidents were reported are drowning.
