Marco Gumabao Reveals Being Bullied In School After Dad’s Arrest In 2005

MARCO GUMABAO – Actor Marco Gumabao disclosed being bullied by his classmates after his father’s arrest in 2005.

2014 saw the conviction of Dennis Roldan, actual name Mitchell Gumabao, for kidnapping a boy of Filipino and Chinese descent. The Court of Appeals upheld the judgment in 2018. At the moment, he is being held at the New Bilibid Prison.

Marco Gumabao said that he was about 10 years old when it all occurred. In his “My Family, Our Story” 2020 YouTube video, he said that the night before his dad’s arrest, he insisted on sleeping in his parents’ room.

The following day, a Sunday, Marco Gumabao said that his mother had awakened him at 5 a.m. and instructed him to use the restroom. His next recollection involved the door being smashed and a policeman escorting him to the living room. Police had already handcuffed his father.

The 28-year-old actor was recently interviewed at the presscon of Kurdapya, his new comedy series with Yassi Pressman on TV5. Based on a report from PEP, he admitted that he experienced bullying from schoolmates when his father was arrested for kidnapping in February 2005.

“When I was in Grade 4, noong nakulong ang dad ko, that was when everyone, lahat sa batch ko, lahat ng gustong mambully sa akin, they found a reason to bully me…”

“And I can also say that made me strong na where I am right now,” said Marco.

Later, Marco Gumabao learned how to avoid being bullied at school. He said he is also not the type to bully classmates.

“Pero siguro when I was in school, pinapa-feel ko sa mga tao na huwag niyo kong lokohin, hindi ko rin kayo lolokohin…”

“Kumbaga, may common respect that you instilled to that person.”

Marco entered showbiz in 2012. This is where he learned not to be affected by other people’s criticisms.

“Siyempre, bilang artista, everyone’s looking at you. You’re a public person.

“Bawat galaw mo, nakikita nila, and they can also comment on everything that you do.

“So, importante rin po talaga na huwag kang masaktan sa sinasabi nila. Learn how to hear it with one ear, tapos labas sa isa.

“Tapos, just kill them with kindness. Huwag mo silang patulan.”
