Yeng Constantino shared the secret behind her successful marriage with Yan Asuncion
Kapamilya singer Yeng Constantino revealed that she and her husband musician Yan Asuncion underwent individual therapy to strengthen their relationship.
Yeng and Yan have been married for eight years now. Many people believed the 7-year itch. It is when couples would have problems and negative thoughts regarding marriage and long-term relationships.
In an interview with PEP, Yeng shared that she is thankful that she and Yan were able to surpass that phase already. The singer said that she really believes in the 7-year itch.
That is the reason why when their marriage reached its eighth year, she was really happy. Yeng Constantino also shared that there was a time when several celebrity couples announced their breakups and it was almost one after the other.
She was somehow worried that this could happen to them as well but thankfully, they are still together. The singer was also asked if what was her and Yan’s secret in reaching their eighth year as a married couple.
“Therapy, kailangan talaga,” the singer said. Yeng shared that they had individual therapy but it is one the same therapist. She stressed that it was vital for their emotional well-being as they work on themselves.
The singer said that she is not afraid to admit this because there is nothing wrong in doing what it takes to save the relationship. Having different personalities, the therapy helped them understand each other more.
“Tulungan niyo ang isa’t isa kasi magkaiba talaga kayo. Adjust, adjust,” the singer said. Yeng said that it really helped them a lot. They were able to know when to go down when one’s emotion is up.
Then, the singer said that this might sound cliché, but communication is indeed an important thing in a relationship. She also stressed the importance of compromising.
