Cong. Arnie Teves Still in Abroad amid Accusations Linking him to Degamo Slay
ARNIE TEVES – The Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative is willing to come back to the Philippines according to his lawyer.
The name of Cong. Arnie Teves was dragged into the angles seen regarding the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo after a suspect named him as the alleged mastermind over the Governor’s death.
Gov. Degamo was attacked at his home in Pamplona last March 4. His ally and several civilians died in an attack lodged by men wearing pixelated uniforms who barged in the gate of the Degamo’s compound.
The Governor was rushed to the hospital but he died. Just five (5) hours since the attack, three (3) suspects were arrested by the authorities. The police believes that the other suspects are still in the Negros Island.
One of the suspects accused Cong. Arnie Teves, who is now abroad, as the mastermind behind the slay of Gov. Roel Degamo. He flew abroad prior to the attack at the house of the Governor for his medication.
Before the suspect named Teves, the Congressman has released a video where he said he received information that he will be pinned down in the case. His travel clearance issued by the House of Representatives expired last March 9 but he has yet to return to the country.
Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, Attorney Toby Diokno, the lawyer of Cong. Arnie Teves, expressed that the Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative is willing to come home to the Philippines and face the accusation linking him to the death of Gov. Roel Degamo. However, he wants to assure his and his family’s safety first.
The lawyer stressed that Teves was charged on a 2019 incident and several of his properties were also raided by the authorities. His legal counsel maintain that what they know is that the Congressman is still in the United States.
