Barangay in Dagupan City Prohibits Hanging of Laundry in Front of House

A local government of a barangay in Dagupan City banned citizens from hanging their laundry in front of their houses.

The barangay passed an ordinance forbidding residents from hanging laundry in front of their homes. According to a GMA News report, the ordinance is being enforced in Barangay Herrero-Perez.

As soon as you enter the barangay’s entrance, you’ll notice a large sign stating the barangay’s rules, including the prohibition on hanging washing in front of residences. However, Salve Bravo, the barangay captain, stated that only properties visible from the road are barred from hanging their laundry in front of their homes.

It’s horrible to watch individuals hanging out on the road while automobiles drive by. That’s why there’s no one hanging out on the road, according to the local official. It’s fine if their residence is in the courtyard. Please don’t let any automobiles go by, the official added.

According to reports, the majority of residents are aware of the current ordinances. Some hang their washing in the backyard. Yet, it is alleged that a few people disregard the ordinance since they have nowhere else to go.

But, as a barangay reminder, it can be hung on the back or side of the house. According to reports, the barangay has organized a crew that goes about making sure the code is followed and punishing those who do not comply.

Barangay officials hope that citizens would see the significance of the law in maintaining the order and cleanliness of their community. In addition, the implementation of discipline ensures compliance with the enforced ordinances.
