Father of “Person of Interest” in the Death of John Matthew Salilig Gives Message for his Family
FATHER – “Nards”, the dad of one of the persons of interest in the case of John Matthew Salilig, apologized to the victim’s family.
Several persons of interest regarding the death of John Matthew Salilig have yet to surrender to the police authorities. The 3rd year chemical engineering student of Adamson University died allegedly after the conduct of some activities in line with welcoming rites in their fraternity.
Salilig is already a member of the Tau Gamm Phi fraternity in Zamboanga City. According to his older brother who knew that he was going to the said welcoming rites, he did not worry then as his brother is already a member of the said group. However, since the time that Matt-Matt sought permission and went to Biñan, Laguna, they never heard from him again.
Matt-Matt was missing for more than a week. His lifeless body was found buried in a shallow grave in Cavite. Several persons of interest were invited by the police authorities to the police station and, shortly after the interview, one of the victims who claimed that he was one of those who was with Matt-Matt at the welcoming rites identified them and they’re considered suspects.
Recently, the father of one of the persons of interest spoke and apologized to the family of John Matthew Salilig while stressing that his son was not one of those who dug the grave for Matt-Matt. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Nards stressed that his son was even the one who was suggesting to have Matt-Matt checked by a doctor.
According to the report, the father who admitted that he did not know that his son is part of a fraternity said that it felt like heaven and earth fell on him when his son talked to him about what happened. They reached out to the authorities and were among the firsts to help find the body of Matt-Matt.
Nards expressed that his son even gave Matt-Matt a CPR when he lost consciousness and he volunteered to be the one to take care of him at the hospital. However, he stressed that his son is just a member of the fraternity group and may not be followed.
The Salilig family is crying for justice for the death of Matt-Matt. The victim’s father, Jeoffrey Salilig, previously called on the other persons of interest to surrender and cooperate with the investigation.
