Darryl Yap wants to work with Charo Santos
Director Darryl Yap shared that the life of veteran actress Charo Santos is his dream biopic.
Darryl rose to fame with his straightforward storytelling through his controversial movies. After doing the trilogy about the Marcos family, based on the article in PEP, the director plans to take a break.
He admitted that doing political movies is energy-consuming. This is the reason why he wants to rest first before doing another project.
Direk Darryl Yap was asked in a recent interview who is the personality he wants to feature in a biopic project. “Well, I want to tackle the life of Charo Santos,” he said, adding that the latter is a very good actress and played an important role in the Philippine entertainment industry.
“Gusto kong ikuwento yung buhay ng tagapagkuwento. I think it’s really a very good content, ‘no?” the director enthused. For more than three decades, Charo shared inspiring stories through her drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya.
For Direk Darryl, telling the story of Charo would be like telling the story of many people’s stories that she read on her show.
“I find her very beautiful, what she did with ABS-CBN is far beyond compare. She’s a woman of grace, and I don’t think there’s a person in showbiz that can speak ill of her,” the director added.
Direk Darryl also said that he wants to tell the story of a woman who achieved greatness and is being recognized not just because of her beauty but also because of the fact that she is a good person.
When asked who is the actress he wants to portray Charo, Direk Darryl said Charo herself will be perfect. “Well, tutal ano naman ito, fantasy question,” he said.
For the young Charo, Direk Darryl Yap said that he would like it to be Kathryn Bernardo and Judy Ann Santos as the adult Charo.
