Marcos Admin to Release P1k ‘Ayuda’ for 9.3-Million Filipino Households, Diokno Says
On Tuesday (March 7, 2023), Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that Marcos administration will release P1,000 ‘ayuda’ to over 9.3 million households.
Late last month, the official announced that the government is considering giving consumers a P1,000 subsidy. This subsidy will be split into two installments of P500 each month.
“Na-identify na namin kung saan kukunin ang pera at siguro in a few days or a few weeks mabibigay na namin ito sa mga naapektuhan ng inflation,” Diokno said.
Diokno mentioned that the cash aid will fall under the extended TCT program for this year. The objective of this program, initiated by the previous administration, is to mitigate the financial difficulties due to the surging fuel prices.
Beneficiaries previously received P500 per month for six months under the program, and the program’s final payout was in January 2023. According to Diokno, the overall budget for inflation relief cash aid is P9.3 billion.
Diokno said that the government is giving a total of P26.6 billion for subsidies to vulnerable sectors, including the P1,000 two-month financial assistance.
Aside from cash assistance, Diokno has stated that the government will provide subsidies such as fertilizer discount vouchers, fuel discounts for farmers and fishermen, and fuel subsidies for the transportation industry.
Following the release of the February 2023 inflation data, the Finance Minister made this announcement.
