JOHN MATTHEW SALILIG CAUSE OF DEATH – The autopsy report of the frat member who allegedly fell victim in the hands of his brothers was released.

The teachers, students, and staff of Adamson University wore black as they sympathize with the family of John Matthew Salilig following his death. The 3rd year chemical engineering student of the university was found dead a few days ago after a week since he was reported missing.

According to John Michael Salilig, the brother of John Matthew who is also a member of Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, his younger brother informed him that he will be attending the “welcoming rites” of the group. He was not worried as his brother was already a member of the frat in Zamboanga City. However, since then, they never heard again from him.

The family received a message from a dummy account informing them that John Matthew had a seizure and passed out after the welcoming rites. They were also told that his body was buried in Cavite. The student’s body was recovered in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite.

Based on a recent report on GMA News, John Matthew Salilig’s cause of death as per the autopsy report was “severe blunt force in the lower extremeties”. His family is determined to find justice for the death of the 3rd year college student.

Currently, seven (7) people are detained by the police authorities. Six (6) of them were initially considered as persons of interest and now suspects of the case. The father of the one of the frat members is also facing charges for obstruction of justice in an attempt to stop the police from searching their house amid a search warrant.

  1. If fraternities are sources of deaths due to traditional hazing rites must be banned. Anyway we can have friends even if you are not a member of any fraternity.

    • For me it still good to remain fraternities but delete the hazing rites. Why not use community services instead of hazing.
