Frat Member Suspect Speaks on Death of John Matthew Salilig
FRAT MEMBER – One of the frat members present during the death of John Matthew Salilig apologized to the victim and revealed what happened on the day he died.
The death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig left countless hearts broken. Another student died allegedly due to some fraternity activities that members do as part of their rituals in their “brotherhood”.
John Matthew is a third year chemical engineering student in Adamson Univesity. His older brother, John Martin Salilig, was the one who confirmed his identity when his body was recovered by the police authorities in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite more than a week after he was reported missing.
Recently, one of the members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity reached out to the authorities and revealed what happened prior to the death of John Matthew Salilig. According to him, John Matthew attended a “welcoming” rites in a house in Biñan, Laguna.
Based on a report on GMA News, the frat member said that if a member comes from Adamson University, the activities are “back to zero” or the process is repeated and only the rituals are not conducted again.
According to the authorities, around 18 people attended the said “welcoming” rites. The police said that John Matthew vomitted during the process. He was reportedly able to survive the hard process, however, when they were allegedly riding a car back to Manila, he had a seizure and he died.
Based on the report, the frat member who surrendered claimed that the frat members had different suggestions with one of them suggesting to bring him to the hospital while another suggested to “dispose” him.
“Pasensya uli kung late na akong lumutang. Sorry talaga,” the frat member said.
