Sen Robin Padilla to Endorse Plane if “Satisfactory changes are made”

Sen Robin Padilla Says He Could Endorse Plane Movie There Are Changes

Senator Robinhood “Robin” Padilla said he could endorse the Hollywood film Plane if there were “satisfactory changes”.

The neophyte legislator on Saturday announced that he would personally watch the movie of Gerard Butler “Plane”. He also stated that he would endorse once “changes are made and confirmed to be suitable.”

The Senator made this remark after strongly opposing the screening of the American action thriller film in the Philippines. According to him, the film contains scenes that tarnish the Philippines’ image.

“The local distributor of the film already agreed to recall it and cut the scenes and dialogues that depict racist comments on Jolo, the Philippines, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and our government. After the changes are made and they are found to be satisfactory, I will watch and personally endorse the film,” Padilla said in a statement.

“When racism is present in a film and when our country is misrepresented, we have no choice but to defend our country and our people. This is true especially in my case, as chairman of the Senate committee on public information and mass media,” he also said.

Padilla, himself a product of the entertainment industry, continued to justify his position: “As an actor, definitely I support all workers in the industry. Citizenship is not the issue – it has never been and it will never be.”

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) said on Thursday that the distributor had voluntarily removed the film from the Philippines.

Padilla emphasized the petition to ban Gerald Butler’s film “Plane” because to its depictions of Jolo, Sulu, and Islam. According to him, the situation was not amusing because the film Plane harmed Muslims and may deter tourists from visiting the country, particularly Sulu.
