Erik Matti lambasted John Arcilla and Star Magic
Award-winning director Erik Matti said actor John Arcilla and Star Magic, the talent management of ABS-CBN are “bastos.”
Direk Erik directed the award-winning movie On The Job: The Missing 8 which received recognition at Venice Film Festival in 2022. This is a huge honor for the Philippine entertainment industry and this was much celebrated.
Just recently, John was recognized by the Senate for bringing that kind of honor to the country. The actor, as well as Star Magic, shared posts on Instagram about this event. However, Direk Erik Matti noticed that there was no slight mention of the movie title.
“Ano kayang movie nakapanalo kay @johnarcilla ng Volpi cup? Ni hindi man lang nila mamention ni @starmagicphils yung movie na nagbigay sa kanya ng parangal? Medyo inexpect ko na yun sa Abs na di magmention kasi nung may prangkisa pa sila ganun na sila e,” Direk Erik write in the caption of his IG post featuring the screenshots of John Arcilla and Star Magic’s posts.
The director added that if it’s not in favor of them, they are just “dedma” but the actor himself did not mention the movie title as well. Direk Erik said that it is fine not to mention who are behind the camera like him but he pointed out that John and Star Magic could have mentioned the movie title.
“Ang Senado nga nirecognize mismong movie na pinanalunan mo pero ikaw di mo mamention?” he said. Then, the director said that if they did not mention the movie title, he will be the one who will mention it.
“Ako na magsasabi, “Salamat sa On The Job: The Missing 8 na movie na binigyan ako ng pagkakataon magawa ang role ni Sisoy Salas na ikinapanalo ko ng Venice Film Festival Volpi Cup award nung 2022,” Direk Erik said.
For the director, this is something disrespectful. “Lahat ng sponsor mo sa derma at diet mo minention mo yung movieng nagpanalo sayo di mo masabi?!! Bastos kayo!” he said. A netizen commented on Direk Erik’s post saying that the post was already edited.
