Aklan Town LGU Offers “WFH” to Female Employees with Monthly Periods
The local government unit (LGU) of a town in Aklan allows female employees with monthly periods to work from home (WFH).
Tangalan’s local government allowed a work-from-home arrangement for female employees who have monthly periods. Every time there is a menstruation, the Tangalan government allows employees to work from home for two days.
It is stated in the Tangalan Ordinance No. 2022-214 or “An Ordinance Establishing ‘Menstruation Day Privilege’ To Female Employees Of The Municipal Government of Tangalan, Aklan To Work-From-Home (WFH) Two (2) Days A Month While They Have Their Periods, Providing Funds Thereof And Likewise Encouraging Other Government And Private Offices In The Municipality To Do The Same.”
According to the report, the rule also states that, in addition to regular employees, all casual ladies, job orders, or Contract of Service in the aforementioned town will benefit. Following that, the local government of Tangalan issued free menstrual kits that included sanitary napkins, feminine wash, and panty liners.
According to the Aklan Provincial Human Resource Management Office (PHRMO), this is the first ordinance regarding women’s menstruation privileges in government offices in the province that has been passed and authorized.
