Did Batang Quiapo beat Maria Clara at Ibarra’s rating?
On Monday, February 13, the pilot episode of the Kapamilya action-drama series Batang Quiapo was aired and it is in the same time slot as GMA’s historical portal drama series Maria Clara at Ibarra.
Coco Martin returns to primetime with a new FPJ project. For its first episode, the Kapamilya series featured the backstory of the important characters. This became a trending topic online, especially the performance of Miles Ocampo.
On the Kapuso network, MCAI is now tackling the story in El Filibusterismo. For several instances, netizens have expressed their admiration for the cast of the Kapuso series and the production.
With these two big shows, the viewers are excited. Rating war is just normal among TV shows in the same time slot. Based on the recent Twitter post of GMA writer Suzette Doctolero, MCAI’s rating is just a little bit higher than the rating that Batang Quiapo got.
Based on the article in Balita, the ratings from AGB Nielsen Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) showed a tight competition between the two shows. The Kapuso series got a 12.9 percent rating while the Kapamilya series recorded a 12.5 percent rating.
“Wow, close fight! (Ito ang totoong ratings, hindi peneke. Ayaw ko sa maduming laro. Dapat sa totoo tayo.),” the Kapuso writer wrote in the caption of her Twitter post.
Dreamscape Entertainment, the production team behind Batang Quiapo shared that the pilot episode of the Kapamilya got 341,509 concurrent views on YouTube, which is considered by fans as way beyond what MCAI got.
However, the Kapuso series defended that this is not the basis of the rating since it is being aired on free TV.
