Honest School Maintenance Worker Earns Praises For Returning Lost Bag w/ P50k Cash

An honest school maintenance worker earns praise and admiration from the public after returning a lost bag containing P50,000 cash.

The 46-year-old man identified as Antolyn Alvarez of Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat found a bag containing P50,000 cash at a table near the school where he is working. He found it near Centerpoint College of Arts and Technology.

Alvarez went outside to run errands and he noticed a bag placed on the table as he return home. He waits for a couple of minutes for the owner to claim the bag but no one claimed it. The honest man was surprised after he saw a large amount of cash.

“Sobrang kaba po. First time ko po kasing makakita at makahawak ng ganoong kalaking pera, Naku, sabi ko po sa sarili ko eh malaking tulong na po iyon sa’kin. Kaya lang po inisip ko mga anak ko at apo. Ayaw ko po na magtamasa sa perang hindi ko naman po pag-aari,” Alvarez said.

The latter never thought of spending the money knowing that someone worked hard to earn it. He found an ID inside the bag and contacted the owner’s contact number. The owner thanked him for returning the bag.

 “Sabi ko ‘huwag po kayong mag-alala, ako po nakadampot ng bag ninyo.’ Ayon po, laking pasasalamat po sa akin,” Alvarez added.

Alvarez returned the money and the owner gave him P5,000 as a reward for his honesty. The honest school maintenance worker earns praise from the owner and his family were proud of him.

“Tuwang-tuwa po sa’kin mga anak ko. Proud daw po sila na ako ang naging papa nila. Pati mga kamag anak at buong pamilya ko natuwa,” he added.
