Bobi: Meet The World’s Oldest Ever Dog

Guinness World Records Announces Bobi Is ‘World’s Oldest Dog Ever’

BOBI – The Guinness World Records announced Bobi is officially the world’s oldest dog living and oldest dog ever.

It hasn’t been long since chihuahua held the record for being the world’s oldest living dog, he is already deceased. A dog from Portugal has successfully snatched the title from the chihuahua after only two weeks. Bobi is now officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as not only the oldest living dog but also the oldest dog ever.

Bobi, a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, has already outlived his breed’s average life expectancy of twelve to fourteen years. Bobi will be 30 years and 266 days old on February 1, 2023.

Bobi’s birth date has been confirmed by the Serviço Medico-Veterinário do Municpio de Leiria (the Municipal Veterinary Medical Service of Leiria), where he was recorded in 1992.

It’s natural for him to be less daring than he used to be as he gets older. His vision has deteriorated, and he now has difficulty walking and resting for longer periods of time than he used to.

Despite being hospitalized in 2018 after falling due to problems breathing, Bobi’s owner, Leonel Costa, believes he lives a “trouble-free” life. He believes that providing a “calm and peaceful environment” is the key to his pet’s long life.

Bobi has spent his entire life in the Portuguese village of Conqueiros with Leonel’s family. The dog is now very much loved and treasured by the Costa family.

“Bobi is special because looking at him is like remembering the people who were part of our family and unfortunately are no longer here, like my father, my brother, or my grandparents who have already left this world. Bobi represents those generations,” said Leonel.

The story of the record-breaking dog could be regarded as a ‘miraculous’ one. Who would have thought that a dog who was condemned at birth would grow up to become the world’s oldest dog ever?

Bobi has surpassed Bluey, an Australian cattle dog who lived for 29 years and 5 months, who held the previous ‘oldest dog ever’ record.
