Bolt Cutter Gang Mastermind and 3 Members Arrested in an Entrapment Operation
Police authorities arrested the mastermind and alleged three members of the “Bolt Cutter Gang” in Manila.
Authorities believe the criminal cell is responsible for the theft of cartons of imported clothing from a warehouse in Manila. According to a GMA News report, the group’s mastermind has been identified as Sadic Garangan.
The group can be seen loading into a van and parking near the warehouse in the CCTV footage. They get access to the warehouse by using a volt cutter to shatter the locks.
The suspects can also be seen in the video removing the CCTV recorder inside the warehouse before taking the boxes holding the imported garments. They know when the products from Bangladesh will reach the Philippines before they arrive.
According to Manila Police District theft and robbery department commander Police Lieutenant Gary Gading, when they arrive in the Philippines, they trace the warehouse where the merchandise is held. In an entrapment operation, MPD personnel arrested three suspects, who were selling stolen imported clothes.
Garangan was arrested because he hid 10 boxes of imported clothes in his house. Cops were able to follow this mastermind because that’s when he brought the ten boxes to his own house in his hired jeep, said Gading.
Garangan denied the allegation and said that he was only asked to keep the goods there and that he would be given money, based on the report.
“Bigla niya kami pinilit na pinilit, sabi pakitago itong stock, bibigyan ka naming ng porsiyento ng P5,000… lahat-lahat para sa sampung box na tinago sa bahay namin,” he further defended.
Attempts are still being made to record the emotions of the three other people detained. Three members of the group have already been charged with anti-fencing violations, while Garangan has been charged with robbery.
