This rumor surfaced after Celeste Cortesi ended the PH 12-year semifinals streak in Miss Universe
Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi was “iniwan” by the Miss Universe Philippines Organization’s officials and staff after she failed to enter the Top 16.
Celeste received positive feedback after the preliminary competitions and many predicted that she will do well during the pageant night. Even Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo said that Celeste would bring home the fifth Miss Universe crown for the country.
However, all the positive predictions and anticipation of Pinoy pageant fans were dumped after the Top 16 candidates were announced. Sadly for Pinoy fans, Celeste Cortesi did not make it.
A video of the Pinay beauty queen crying while leaving the stage surfaced online. Several former queens also shared their sympathy for Celeste. They expressed their love and support for their fellow queen despite not winning.
Rumors surfaced online that after Celeste’s name was not mentioned for the Top 16, the officials of the Miss Universe Philippines organization left. A screenshot of a chat conversation circulated showing a message saying that Shamcey Supsup, MUPH National Director, left after the Top 16 announcement. Another message stated that Celeste Cortesi was “parang iniwan sa ere.”
There were netizens who also associated that tweet that Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa, who finished as a Top 10 semifinalist, showing that she was eating chocolate to make her happy. Then, her caption stated, “Balik pala ako ulit sayang ticket.” Netizens concluded that it was a sort of confirmation that the MUPH organization really left Celeste Cortesi after failing to even reach the Top 16.
A netizen was also looking for Jonas Gaffud, the creative and events director of Miss Universe Philippines, who was nowhere to be found after the pageant.
