Canadian National Arrested After Posing as Fake Filipino at the NAIA
Police authorities arrested a Canadian national after pretending to be a fake Filipino at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Personnel from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended a Canadian suspected of impersonating a Filipino. According to the report, the 49-year-old foreigner attempted to depart for Taiwan on an Eva Air flight from the NAIA.

Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU) acting head Ann Camille Mina stated that the foreign national was searched by TCEU inspectors. The alleged foreigner displayed a Philippine passport, but BI officials were suspicious because he could not speak Filipino or any Filipino dialect.
Based on the report, he also failed to respond to basic questions about his identity. During the BI’s database verification, they discovered that the suspect had made numerous trips to the country using Canadian and Hong Kong passports.
He also has a permanent residence visa, according to the authorities. The foreigner allegedly admitted to the BI that his lawyer processed his birth certificate for his passport application during the interview.
BI agents suspected that his passport and birth certificate had been altered or forged. Later, the suspect was turned over to the BI’s Legal Division for an inquest and charged with violating the Philippine Immigration Act.
