Kapamilya actress Jane de Leon has this reaction to the Darna costume that beauty queen Celeste Cortesi featured in her Miss Universe 2022 National Costume.
Celeste received positive feedback for her performance in the preliminary competitions. Her name trended online during the event as Pinoy pageant fans showed support for her. Several former beauty queens also rallied behind her.
Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo even predicted that Celeste’s performance will bring the fifth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines. As early as now, pageant fans in the Philippines are anticipating that the Pinay beauty queen will be included in the Top 16.
Many fans admired Celeste for showcasing the iconic Pinay superhero character. Jane de Leon, the actress portraying Darna in the Kapamilya series, also showed support for Celeste Cortesi.
Jane shared a photo of Celeste during the National Costume competition on her Instagram Story. “SLAYYY! Philippines! [Philippine flag emoji].” the actress wrote in the caption of her post and tagged the Instagram page of the beauty queen.
Meanwhile, rumors surfaced that the Darna series is set to air its finale after two weeks. Rumor has it that it will be replaced by Coco Martin’s Batang Quiapo series with Lovi Poe and Charo Santos.
It is known to many viewers and netizens that Darna received criticisms for its CGI or computer-generated imagery. Amid the criticisms, Darna director Benedict Mique defended and said that they are doing their best in order to present a good series to the viewers.
There was an instance when viewers noticed that Darna seemed to have become a supporting character only because several episodes were focused on the character of Bryan, played by Joshua Garcia.
