P1000 POLYMER BANKNOTE – Pep reached out to Jonathan De Vera about his P1000 bill that he accidentally ironed while it’s inside his pocket.

Currently, there are several new P1000 polymer banknotes that are in circulation in the Philippines. These bills were released by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas beginning 2022 and they bear a different design from the majority of the circulating P1000 bills.

In the new P1000 polymer banknotes, instead of the faces of war heroes Josefa Llanes Escoda, Vicente Lim, and Jose Abad Santos, the bill bears the image of the Philippine Eagle.

A few weeks prior to its releasing, the authorities already gave the populace a heads up on how to take care of the banknotes. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) set rules in the handling of the new Philippine banknotes. Some people were hesitant about the new bills while others were excited to finally have one.

However, in the case of netizen Jonathan De Vera, he has an experience with his P1000 polymer banknote which he never wants others to experience. He forgot his money inside the pocket of his pants.

Jonathan ironed his pants without taking the money out from its pocket. When he finally felt that the P1000 polymber banknote was inside his pants’ pocket, it was already deformed. Here’s his Facebook post:

Pep reached out to Jonathan De Vera for an update about his P1000 polymer banknote. Based on the article, Jonathan brought his money to BSP and it will be checked by the Central Bank.

According to him, the BSP employees are very accommodating. He stressed that it is really a good one if the bank can give him a new banknote but if it won’t happen, he will just keep the banknote. He added that he is not really worried because it was really an “accident”.
