Sylvia Sanchez Gives Drag Queens A Chance To Perform In A Bigger Venue
SYLVIA SANCHES – Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez said it’s time to give drag queens a chance to perform in a bigger venue.
Sylvia Sanchez collaborated with couple Ice Seguerra and Liza Diño to create the Divine Divas Live concert of Drag Race PH queens Precious Paula Nicole, Brigiding, and Viñas Deluxe. The veteran actress considers the creation of The Ultimate Drag Experience: Dive Divas Live concert, with the couple to be the fulfillment of a promise.
Through her company Nathan Studios and Ice and Liza’s Fire and Ice production company, former Drag Race Philippines contestants Brigiding, Viñas Deluxe, and grand winner Precious Paula Nicole will have their first major concert.
Dive Divas Live is a pre-Valentine concert that will be held on February 10 at the New Frontier Theater, Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City.
“Unang-una, gusto ko lang sabihin na mula ng bata ako, 60 percent ng barkada ko, 80 percent pa nga yata, ay LGBTQIA. Nangako ako noon sa sarili ko na kapag medyo umangat na ako, medyo nakaangat-angat na, ang unang tutulungan ko ay ang mga LGBTQIA dahil deserve nila ‘yon,” Sylvia said during the press conference of Dive Divas Live.
She added, it’s time to give drag queens a chance to perform in a bigger venue. “Naniniwala ako, mula bata ako hanggang ngayon, LGBTQIA ang kasama ko sa buhay ko na nakakatuwa, good vibes kahit anong mangyari, and nandiyan sila palagi sa tabi ko. Ngayon, tatlo ang yayakapin ko sa pamilya Atayde,” she said.

Sylvia Sanchez’s co-producer, Liza, feels the same way.
“We really believe that the main stage belongs to these queens,” said Liza
“Hindi lang kami ang dapat maka-experience, hindi lang yung sidelights, hindi lang yung underground, yung mga pumupunta sa bars. The entire public sa buong Pilipinas deserves this kind of talent.
“For us, it’s a risk, of course, but it’s time. It’s the perfect time to be there, to shine, to represent the LGBT community. It’s such a colorful way and mae-experience n’yo siya sa show na ‘yon.
“They’re more than just impersonators. Yung history ng drag sa atin nag-umpisa sa ganun. But as we evolve, as we appreciate the culture of drag, they can be anything you want them to be. They are musical performers, theater performers, they are actors.
“So, dito sa show, it’s an ultimate drag experience talaga. Nagpagawa kami ng musical and they’re launching their new song. Sneak peek lang ‘yan sa mae-experience n’yo sa show na ito.”
Meanwhile, like Sylvia, their production of Divine Divas Live is also personal for Ice Seguerra because he personally worked with Precious Paula Nicole, Brigiding, and Viñas Deluxe. It can be remembered that Ice was the director of Drag Race Philippines: Untucked.
