Ice Seguerra talks about his showbiz journey
Singer Ice Seguerra quipped about his showbiz career as he said that fact that he started as a beauty queen in the industry.
Ice is celebrating his 35th year in the entertainment industry this year through the concert Becoming Ice. Aiza Seguerra become a household name because of a young talented girl who won the hearts of Eat Bulaga‘s viewers.
After three decades and a half, Ice has gone through a lot that brought him to where he is now. In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Ice looked back on the time when he started in showbiz.
From being a child star, he ventured into music. Just recently, he had his directorial debut in Drag Race Philippines.
“On my 35th, napag-usapan namin ni Liza, that we should do something because if you look at the trajectory of my career, I started in the industry as a beauty queen (laughs), it’s true naman. Then I became a singer. And then now, it’s another journey for me as a director. I’m going around, balik ako sa dati, so it’s really something to celebrate,” Ice Seguerra said.
In his personal life, as a member of the LGBTQ community, he also experienced a lot and several milestones need to be celebrated. For his concert, Ice will show his audience the journey he went through. He had to bring out a lot of throwback photos because of this and this is something he enjoyed because of the memories he recalled.
“I really, really enjoy watching my younger self, siguro kasi ang layo na, parang oh my God ganito pala ako nuon! I was looking at all the photos because we will be showing (them), natutuwa ako,” he said.
The singer also shared an old writeup in which she was asked about her fellow former child star Matet de Leon. “May nakita akong (writeup) na may sinagot ako tungkol kay Matet. Sinagot ko siya na, ‘Hindi naman salbahe si Matet, mataray lang.’ Mga ganyang sagot, ‘di ba atribida?” Ice fondly shared.
He also revealed that before joining the Little Miss Philippines, he was already part of sagalas in his old neighborhood in Dapitan, Manila. Because of his antics in those kinds of events, people advised his mom to let him join the kiddie pageant in the longest-running noontime show. From that, his showbiz journey started and the rest, as they say, is history.
