Suspected Scalper of PBA Game Ticket Arrested in Quezon City

Authorities arrested a suspected scalper of ticker for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) game in Quezon City.

Three alleged scalpers or overpriced ticket dealers were apprehended by Quezon City Police District officers during the PBA Finals Game 6 in Cubao, Quezon City. The Philippine Basketball Association complained to the QCPD about the scalpers.

The suspects were operating online and near the Araneta Center Coliseum, according to the report. PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial stated that they were concerned when they observed tickets being auctioned online for five to ten times the original price.

The top box seat, which costs P230, is sold for P500 to P1,000 by scalpers, while the patron C seat, which costs P650, is sold for P2,800. According to Marcial, many fans were outraged on social media, especially since the tickets were rapidly sold out.

As a result, the QCPD launched an entrapment operation in which one of the operatives appeared to be a buyer. The three scalpers were apprehended just after 4 p.m., and 50 tickets for Game 6 were retrieved from them. Based on the report, the three will face a P5,000 fine for violating City Ordinance SP-2744, or Anti-Scalping.
