Donnalyn Bartolome Admits She Made The Wrong Choice Of Words

Donnalyn Bartolome Responds To Critics Of Her ‘Back To Work’ Remarks

DONNALYN BARTOLOME – Youtube star Donnalyn Bartolome admitted she made the wrong choice of words in her viral ‘back to work’ remarks.

Donnalyn Bartolome caught the ire of the online community when she questioned why some people were sad to be going back to work after celebrating Christmas and New Year. She posted this last Wednesday, January 4, 2023, on her Facebook page.

The vlogger and internet personality said this mindset should be changed this new year. Instead of being sad, they ought to be happy and thankful because they have a job to go back to.

Disappointed internet users referred to Donnalyn Bartolome’s remark as “inconsiderate,” “insensitive,” and a spreader of “toxic positivity.” One of those who reacted was 24 Oras trivia master Kuya Kim Atienza. On Facebook, he shared Donnalyn’s post and expressed his feelings in the caption.

According to Kuya Kim, everyone has distinct blessings in life. Others may claim that despite having a job, they are unhappy in it so they feel sad to go back to work.

In a series of new posts on FB, Donnalyn Bartolome said her remarks “could have been phrased better,” and that they failed to express what she wanted to say.

The 28-year-old Youtuber made it clear that the positivity in her message came not from privilege but from her own experiences. She said, “Naranasan kong wala nang trabaho kaya siguro sobra ko pahalagahan… naranasan ko magcommute sa Bus, MRT, Jeep, FX, Tricycle… ‘yung pila, siksikan, init… alam ko talaga.”

Donnalyn Bartolome said that her granddad was a janitor and that her upbringing is the reason for her mindset. She added that her struggles had gotten so bad that she had to pray on her knees to God for help just to have food for the next day as well as money for her tuition and home expenses.

She acknowledged that she used the incorrect words, though.

“I’m only sharing these experiences in hopes to show sincerity of me admitting that error and not just to save face, kasi like all of you may pinagdaanan din ako so last thing I’d want to do is hurt any of you,” she said. “Madali mag-sorry pero how do you know the person really meant no harm? ‘Pag nakilala mo siyang konti. That is the purpose of this post,” she wrote.
