Dave Bautista Ends Friendship W/ Manny Pacquiao
DAVE BAUTISTA – Filipino-Greek professional wrestler-turned-Hollywood actor Dave Bautista has ended his long-time friendship with Manny Pacquiao.
FO o friendship over. It appears that this is what happened between Dave Bautista and Manny Pacquiao based on the Hollywood actor’s revelation in a magazine shoot. The issue: because of Pacquiao’s anti-gay statement.
In 2016, Pacquiao’s statement that said same-sex marriage is “mas masahol pa sa hayop” became controversial. The boxer-turned-senator received severe criticism from the LGBTQ+ community and its supporters.
But the wind seems to have changed for Manny Pacquiao when he said in a 2021 interview, “Who am I to judge?.” Part of the boxer’s explanation, “na-edit kasi masyado yung statement ko na yun.”
“Ang sinasabi ko palagi, hindi ko kinu-condemn yung mga gay, mga LGBT… May mga pamangkin ako na LGBT, ang dami ko mga LGBT na workers, sa bahay ko, kahit sa mga kapatid ko.
“As a person, hindi mo sasabihin na galit ka sa kanya, kinokondena mo siya. Dapat nga, who am I to judge a person, di ba?” he said.

The LGBTQ+ community is close to Dave’s heart. In a video clip that is now circulating on TikTok, the Guardians of the Galaxy star revealed why he covered up the tattoo on his left arm. “It used to be a team logo,” said Bautista in a TikTok video taken from his interview with GQ.
“I was part of a team of a person I considered a friend and someone I really looked up to,” said Bautista.
The Hollywood actor did not reveal the name of his friend, but it has been named in various international and local online media that Dave is referring to Pacquiao’s similar tattoo.
He added, “And then, he later came out publicly with some anti-gay statements and turned out to be an extreme homophobe.”
Dave admitted that the issue is personal to him. He confessed: “It’s a personal issue with me, my mom’s a lesbian.”
“And I just could no longer call him a friend. So, I had it covered up with this.”
Dave’s superimposed tattoo is a sugar skull face of a woman.
