Authorities destroyed P60,000 worth of illegal firecrackers confiscated during their operation in Tuguegarao City.

The police department also stated that they expect the New Year’s Eve celebration will be “casualty-free” due to the stringent enforcement of Republic Act No. 7183, or the law on pyrotechnic devices.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Department of Health (DOH) this Friday, December 30, two days before the coming of the New Year, the number of Filipinos hurt by firecrackers has grown to 41. The ministry advised the public once more to refrain from using fireworks so that every family can enjoy a complete and safe Christmas and New Year’s celebration.
