Kakai Bautista looks back at her beginning
Comedienne-singer Kakai Bautista revealed her tag “Dental Diva” started during a recent interview on the YouTube talk show Toni Talks.
Kakai is more than just a funny woman. When she sings, many people who just heard her sing would always have surprised reactions. She is a theater actress also. Over the years, she was given different roles on TV and in movies.
In a recent interview, Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga asked her guest how her moniker in showbiz started. Kakai Bautista revealed that it was the King of Talk Boy Abunda who gave him the “Dental Diva” tag.
She shared that in one of Tito Boy’s first interviews with her, he asked what she would like to be called because there is Divine Diva, Songbird, etc. Kakai shared that if there is a moniker, she wants to be something related to her mouth and so “Dental Diva” was born.
The comedienne-singer also shared how her family discovered that she could sing. Kakai revealed that at a young age, she really loved to dance and she wanted to be a dancer. There was an instance when her mother made her join a “ticket contest” in their church.
She went along with this with her condition that for the talent portion, she will dance. Her mother bought the fabric for her costume because she wanted to dance “conga.” However, her skirt was burnt when her mother ironed it.
Because of that, she was told to sing. At that time, it was only her grandmother who knew that she could sing. Kakai was 7 years old when that happened and she sang the Whitney Houston hit Greatest Love Of All. Through that competition, many people knew that Kakai Bautista can sing.
