Boy Abunda On Why He Transferred To GMA and Leave ABS-CBN

BOY ABUNDA – Veteran talk show host Boy Abunda has signed a new contract with GMA Network and here’s what he said about this.

Known as the “King of Talk,” Boy Abunda started his career on GMA talk show Show & Tell in 1994 and Startalk in 1995. In 1999, he left the Kapuso network and transferred to ABS-CBN. He hosted the iconic talk show The Buzz from 1999 to 2015.

However, when ABS-CBN lost in their bid for a new franchise, people missed his interviews on television. He shifted to hosting interviews on his own YouTube channel and spoke to actors, musicians, athletes, and politicians.

And now, several days after the talk about his transfer to GMA circulated online, this story has been confirmed. On October 15, he finally signed a new contract with GMA where he was welcomed by the network wholeheartedly.

“Welcome home, Kapuso!” GMA said in the caption of one of their posts.

In a report from GMA, Abunda stressed that the reason for his transfer is that he really wanted to go back to doing what he loves which is hosting. Accordingly, a lengthy conversation happened before everything fell into its place.

“Bakit ako narito? Dahil nawalan ako ng tahanan. Nawalan ako ng show at sabi ko nga kanina, I’m being welcomed buong puso ng GMA-7,” he said.

He is back to GMA because he wants to return to TV, to do shows, to do the job he loves, and to do the work that he knows.

“I am back because gusto kong makabalik sa telebisyon, gusto kong gumawa ng mga palabas, gusto kong gumawa ng trabaho na alam ko gawin at trabaho na mahal ko. That’s the reason I’m back.”

Before leaving his old company, he clarified that he left without any bad blood with anyone. He bid formally bid goodbye and returned to GMA without anything bad to look back to with his former company.
