Mylene Dizon to Parents Using Children as Investments: “That’s not their obligation!”

Mylene Dizon Reacts to Parents Treating Their Children as Investments

Veteran actress Mylene Dizon expresses her reactions to some parents treating their children as investments or retirement plans.

Mylene Dizon, 46, spoke during the press conference for the movie “Family Affairs” on the spreading concerns about parents using their kids as a source of income. The mother of two expressed her unwillingness to turn her kids into an “investment” for requirements in the future.

She asserted that although it may be the moral responsibility of children to ensure the well of their parents, they shouldn’t be required to do so. Other kids might not want to participate for a variety of reasons, in which case they shouldn’t be coerced into doing something they don’t want to.

“There are three different things already. There is our obligation to take care of our parents because they are our parents, not really obligations but it’s I want to do it. Either you want to do it or you don’t want to do it,” Mylene said during her interview.

“There’s another thing when we make our children as an investment to secure our future, that’s wrong! For me definitely that’s wrong, super wrong. That’s not the obligation of the children,” the actress added.

She emphasized that she would never demand money from her children. She prefers to give her children advice on how to care for their family in the future as well as how to become better persons and parents.

“I will never oblige my children, I will not charge, I’ve never done that but I’d rather advise my children to take care of their family in the future and to be better people, better parents,” Mylene concluded.
