Ruffa Gutierrez enjoys being a freelance artist
Actress Ruffa Gutierrez shared her thoughts on being able to work with different TV networks now that she is a freelance artist.
Artists having exclusive contracts with certain TV networks is a common scenario in the Philippine entertainment industry. Those artists who are signed under a TV network are prohibited by their contracts to have a show or appear on other networks.
However, freelance artists, like Ruffa, have the freedom to do different shows on different TV networks. Currently, she is doing a show on ALLTV but the actress said that she has no exclusive contract with the new network.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Ruffa Gutierrez that she only has an exclusive show contract. “Exclusive ako sa program. I signed a program contract. So, puwede rin akong gumawa ng ibang project sa ABS-CBN, sa GMA, TV5,” she said.
She added that she can do other genres of shows on other networks like teleserye as long as it will not be on the same time slot as her Mhies on a Mission talk show on ALLTV with Mariel Padilla and Ciara Sotto.
Ruffa also shared that she also received offers from GMA and ABS-CBN. “So I think, at this point in time, di ba, right after the pandemic, hindi na dapat maging isyu kung saan tayo magtatrabaho,” she stressed, adding that everyone just want to earn a living.
The actress thinks that exclusive contracts are more applicable now to younger artists and just a few seasoned stars. “Now lahat ng tao, umiikot na talaga,” she said.
When asked if she will still appear on It’s Showtime, Ruffa Gutierrez said that she is willing to have a stint on the Kapamilya noontime show.
Meanwhile, Ruffa said that she is excited to work with Mariel and Ciara. The former beauty queen had a fun time with her new co-hosts even though she has something in common with Ciara.
