SSC-R Coach Egay Macaraya Ejected After He Argued Call of Referees

SSC-R Coach Egay Macaraya Ousted From NCAA Season 98 Seniors Basketball Tournament After Receiving 2 Technical Fouls

SSC-R Coach Egay Macaraya has been ejected from the court after his challenge request leads to two technical fouls.

On Tuesday (November 15, 2022), San Sebastian College-Recoletos head coach Egay Macaraya has been ousted during the NCAA Season 98 Seniors Basketball tournament game against the College of Saint Benilde at San Juan Arena.

The ejection left Macaraya fuming after he argued the call of the referees to review the foul of Carlo Lim on Alex Desoyo. The coach has been ejected during the second half of the game and lost to Blazers with an 83-78 scoreboard.

Alex Desoyo was driving to the basket with 4.1 seconds remaining in the second quarter, hoping to finish the first half with a bucket, when Carlo Lim accidentally hit him in the head. However, only a blocking foul was called.

Since the squad was still up against their coach’s challenge, the head tactician for the Stags insisted on reviewing the previous play. But instead of allowing his plea, referee Ricor Buaron ejected Macaraya after calling him for a technical violation and a disqualifying foul.

After the disqualification foul, Macaraya refused to be removed from the game and continued to maintain his innocence, saying that all he was doing was asking for a coach’s challenge, which they still have, but Buaron is refusing their right to.

The SSC-R Coach has been hear saying “G— ba ako para magpathrown-out e importante yung game?”.

The Stags finally got the review they wanted after several minutes of waiting, but it cost them their head coach.

Prince Carlos was awarded a free throw as a result of San Sebastian’s technical foul and disqualifying foul rather than the latter’s unsportsmanlike foul, which helped the Blazers as well.
