Richard Gutierrez had the chance to work with Coco Martin
Kapamilya actor Richard Gutierrez shared what he learned from his fellow actor Coco Martin when they worked together in the series Ang Probinsyano.
Richard has been doing action series for many years now even from the time when he was in the Kapuso network. When he transferred to ABS-CBN, he was able to be part of Coco’s series.
Now, Richard stars in his new action series The Iron Heart with his new leading lady Sue Ramirez. In a recent interview for this new project, based on the article in Bandera, the actor said that his character in Ang Probinsyano is so different from his character in his new series.
“Malayung-malayo ang portrayal ko as Lito in ‘Ang Probinsiyano.’ It’s totally different like opposite side of the spectrum in terms of characterization,” Richard Gutierrez said. In his character Apollo in The Iron Heart, he said that the creative team of the series helped him develop it.
With their collaboration to develop the character, Richard said that the viewers will surely remember Apollo as a remarkable character. During the interview, the actor was also asked about the lesson he learned from Coco.
“Siguro how to adapt sa bilis ng pag-shift kasi alam naman nating lahat na sa ‘Ang Probinsyano’ ay wala namang script doon. Mabilisan ang galawan doon,” Richard said, adding that being part of this kind of project is a good training to have patience.
He also said that it is a good thing also to adapt to different situations, especially those unexpected ones. On the aspect of being an actor, Richard said that it contributed to his growth. “Masasabi kong nakapag-adapt ako sa different styles of filming,” he said.
Meanwhile, Richard Gutierrez said that in his new series, they did a different approach. They have the script in advance and they have two directors and writers on the set. When it comes to the action scenes, he said that he made sure that the audience will see a different kind.
