The veteran news and public affairs personality took a break in 2021. It is because of his medical condition. After his kidney transplant, Mike took a break from being a newscaster. Apparently, this is the reason why for many instances, he became the subject of a death hoax.

The recent one was even posted by veteran singer Richard Merk, based on the article in PEP. Richard shared his photo with Mike Enriquez with this caption: “Rest in peace Tito Mike. We will all miss you. A great loss to the news industry. Labyu Tito. My sincere condolences to your loving family and friends. Enjoy the company of our dear creator in heaven.”

The showbiz news outlet contacted GMA Network regarding this issue and the media company strongly denied this. GMA said that Mike is alive. When the showbiz news outlet contacted Richard, the singer said that he got the “information”, which turned out to be false, from character actress Loly Mara.

In Loly’s Facebook post, she wrote, “This photo with Mike Enriquez and his wife was taken 3yrs ago at Nora Trajano’s bday. I’m glad I saw Mike after many years and now he’s happy in heaven with the Lord. Rest in peace dear Mike.”

After an hour since she posted that, Loly made clarifications. She apologized for the misinformation and explained that the news she got was from years ago. “Many condoled and no one said otherwise. I’m very very sorry if it was a fake news. Forgive me Mike!” she added.
