Relief Fund for Paeng Victims: Malacañang Reveals Amount Released, Total Available Fund

RELIEF FUND FOR PAENG VICTIMS – Malacañang revealed the amount released and the current total available fund to aid typhoon the victims.

Several cities and provinces are now in deep flooding due to Typhoon Paeng. The severe tropical storm that is now heading Cavite to Metro Manila after making its 5th landfall in Batangas brought heavy rains and strong winds that caused flooding. Many people are staying in evacuation centers now. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Malacañang said that P4.1 million has been released to aid the families hit by #PaengPH. Currently, the government has an available fund of P1.5 billion with P445.2 million on standby funds and quick response funds. Based on the report, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also has over P1 billion worth of relief aid ready to be distributed.

Tulfo Cancels Dayoff, Leaves of DSWD Employees for Typhoon Paeng Preparations

TULFO – Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo cancelled the dayoff and leaves of the DSWD employees for the preparations for Typhoon Paeng.

Several areas in the Philippines are currently experiencing moderate to heavy rains as Typhoon Paeng approaches. A lot of people have evacuated their homes and are now staying in evacuation centers and malls that have opened their doors to the public amid the calamity.

Unfortunately, the heavy rains have already caused flooding in several areas across the nation. Several government agencies are now on alert to help those who will greatly need assistance amid the calamity.

In the case of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which is usually one of the frontliners in extending relief to the victims of calamities, Social Welfare Sec. Erwin Tulfo cancelled the dayoff and leaves of the DSWD employees to prepare for Typhoon Paeng.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Tulfo met all the directors of the DSWD field offices to ensure that they are prepared to help the people who will be affected by the wrath of Typhoon Paeng. However, the Social Welfare Secretary was quite disappointed when he found out that one of the chiefs was out for another business.

Tulfo decided to cancel the dayoff and the leaves of the DSWD officials and employees citing that they are on red alert now so all hands must do their part to respond to the needs of the public during this time.

The DSWD Secretary assured that his department is ready to help the Filipinos who will be affected by Typhoon Paeng. According to him, they are ready to provide assistance both financially and in kind and their operations center can produce 25,000 food packs daily.
