3 Cops Relieved from Post Over an Encounter in Manila, Killing a Civilian
Three (3) cops were relieved from their job due to an encounter in Manila that lead to the death of a civilian.
The three police officers engaged in the armed conflict that resulted in one person’s death on Monday morning in Sampaloc, Manila, have been sacked. P/Brig. Gen. MPD District Director According to Andre Dizon, the three have been relieved while a careful inquiry into the matter is ongoing.
PCpl Jeffrey Toledo, Patrolman Pat Kayang-O, all members of the MPD-Station 4 Tactical Motorized Riders Unit (TMRU), and P/Maj Rommel Purisima, a member of the MPD’s District Special Operation Unit (DSOU), are among those who have been fired.
According to the report, the three police officers were shown on camera exchanging gunfire with the detained businesswoman Kristie Rose Castro y Infante on Sampaloc’s Mindanao Street. Reanne Pilar, Castro’s housemaid, passed away in the course of the confrontation.
When the suspect parked in front of a house rumored to be Purisima’s house and fired a gun, he was toting his Ford Ranger (ABP 1605). She returned a little while afterward and fired once more. A person arrived to respond, but the suspect came back and continued to fire until there was an incident and a chase.
Police blocked the suspect’s car on Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard while also learning that his housemate had died. The reason Castro opened fire in front of Purisima’s home is still a mystery at this time.
