Dennis Trillo On Barbie Forteza as “Ka-eksena” in ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’

Dennis Trillo revealed this about Barbie Forteza

Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo talked about actress Barbie Forteza as his “ka-eksena” in GMA’s primetime series Maria Clara at Ibarra.

Dennis portrays the character of Crisostomo Ibarra in the series, the lead male character in Jose Rizal‘s novel Noli Me Tangere. Barbie’s character is Maria Clara “Klay” Infantes, who traveled back to the Spanish era in the Philippines.

The series has been receiving positive feedback from viewers, as well as from celebrities who are hooked on watching this historical portal romantic teleserye. In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Dennis shared that they really had to study their characters as they were in a different era.

He said that director Zig Dulay wanted them to deliver their lines with no particular intonation. “Ang parang gusto niya yung natural lang na pagbigkas,” Dennis Trillo shared. Through this, the characters from the Spanish era will have a distinction from the character of Barbie Forteza who came from the present time.

Dennis said that Barbie is really good at portraying her character. “Ang galing din kasi talaga ni Barbie, sobrang galing niya,” he said adding that it was fun doing scenes with Barbie. “Ang sarap niya ka-eksena kasi nagiging natural yung mga eksena dahil napaka-natural niyang aktres,” he said.

The actor also said that Barbie is good at reacting to things around her and she is also taking her job seriously. Just like the rest of the cast, Dennis is also inspired by the positive feedback that they are getting. These good comments are like a pat on the back to everyone in the production.

Dennis Trillo also said that watching the scenes seemed easy because of the light concept but when it comes to technicalities, they really needed to work hard like in their costumes that have three layers. It was also a challenge for them to look comfortable while wearing their costumes.

The cast members had to make sure also to observe the conservative behaviors of people living in the Spanish era.
