Cynthia Villar Says Fishermen & Farmers “Don’t know anything” & “don’t understand climate change”

CYNTHIA VILLAR – Senator Cynthia Villar draws flak from netizens after saying fishermen and farmers “don’t know anything” and “don’t understand climate change”.

Cynthia Aguilar Villar is a politician who is presently a senator for the Philippines. Prior to earning a position in the Senate in 2013, she served as a representative for the Lone District of Las Piñas in the House of Representatives from 2001 to 2010.

Villar won the Senate race with 25 million votes, which was the most votes ever cast in an election until Robin Padilla did so in 2022. She was re-elected to the Senate for a second term and placed first in the 2019 election results.

Cynthia Villar is the richest senator in the Philippines. She’s the wife of the wealthiest Filipino Manny Villar. In a previous article, Cynthia said political candidates do not need any money to win in any elections.

“You know, kapag winning candidate ka, kahit mahirap ka maraming magbibigay sa ‘yo ng pera. Kapag losing candidate ka, kahit mayaman ka hindi ka mananalo. That’s the reality of PH politics. Huwag ninyong sabihing nasa pera ‘yan,” said Villar.

Just recently, Cynthia Villar was slammed by netizens after she said that farmers and fisherfolks are ignorant of climate change. Some of them say she looks down on the experiences and the capability of these people to read and adapt to the changing patterns of the climate.

“Wag nyong iaasa sa farmers at fisherfolk kasi sila hindi naman nila naiintindihan yang climate change. Wag nyo nang sasabihing climate change yan,” Villar said.
