BI Intercepts Smuggle Attempt of Illegal Drugs in Kimchi Container

Illegal Drugs in Kimchi Container Intercepted inside BI Detention Center

Personnel of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) intercepted illegal drugs hidden in a Kimchi container inside the detention center.

Two foreign nationals failed in their attempt to sneak illegal substances into the BI prison facility in Bicutan, Taguig. The illegal narcotic is allegedly hidden by the American and Korean nationals within the Kimchi container.

Robert Wayne Boling Jr. and Kwon Hyeok Soo, both 41, were foreigners, according to BI Warden Facility Officer-in-Charge Adelfo Marasigan. According to the report, on October 4 the two attempted to carry 2 sachets of shabu weighing roughly 7 grams.

“The narcotic substance was found hidden inside a Korean stew that was delivered for Boling,” said Marasigan.

In addition, Korean Yang Heejun was initially apprehended on September 21 for concealing 4 grams of shabu—an illicit drug—wrapped in plastic inside a kimchi container. Marasigan claims that the BI agents were suspicious when they discovered that Boling’s request for food delivery occurred nearly simultaneously with Yang’s return in September.

Boling is believed to have acknowledged that he requested permission to transport the food supplies and that Kwon was the actual owner of the products. The BI correctional facility in the mentioned location will be put on lockdown as a result of the event. The restriction will be upheld until the case is being examined, according to the official in charge of the BI Warden Facility Adelfo Marasigan.
