Jinggoy Estrada Clarifies His Statement On Banning K-Dramas

Jinggoy Estrada explained his statement about South Korean dramas

Senator Jinggoy Estrada made clarifications about his statement on banning K-dramas in the Philippines.

Korean dramas are reaping huge success in the Philippines and other countries in the world. A lot of Pinoys are K-drama fans and even celebrities in the country admitted that they are addicted to watching series and films made by South Koreans. Several K-dramas also had a Pinoy version.

Aside from K-dramas, many Pinoys are also fans of K-pop stars and choose to follow K-fashion and buy beauty products from South Korea.

Sen. Jinggoy just recently shared his observation when it comes to the success of K-dramas in the country. He said that because of this, people in the Philippine entertainment industry are not getting enough jobs.

Jinggoy Estrada said.

This statement made by the lawmaker garnered negative reactions. In a follow-up statement, the Senator said that he has nothing against K-dramas. His statement on banning series from South Korea came from his frustration when it comes to the current status of the entertainment industry in the Philippines.

He said that because of the attention that Pinoys are giving to entertainment materials from South Korea, they haven’t paid much attention to projects created by Filipino artists.

“I wish that the zealousness of our kababayans in patronizing foreign artists can be replicated to support our homegrown talents who I strongly believe are likewise world-class,” the lawmaker said in a Facebook post.

He also said that admittedly, Pinoys have to learn from South Korean when it comes to this field. The Senator also reminded Filipinos to don’t forget to patronize projects created by fellow Filipinos.

South Korea’s phenomenal success is rooted in their love of country. It is high time that we follow their example and do the same for our own entertainment industry that is at best, barely surviving,” Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said.
