DepEd Announces Date for Resumption of Full Face-to-Face Classes
DepEd Releases Order on Switch of Classes to Face-to-Face
DEPED – The Department of Education announced the date for the resumption of the full face-to-face classes in schools.
The COVID-19 pandemic urged schools to consider blended learning on a wider scale. To fight the spread of the virus and for the safety of the students, lessons are delivered through online classes or modules instead of the usual face-to-face classes in elementary and secondary schools.
It has been more than a year now since blended learning was adopted in the Philippine educational system. There are situations that are challenging on both the part of the teachers and the part of the learners amid this new mode of the delivery of instructions.
There were schools that piloted the resumption of face-to-face classes but the transition started slowly amid the ongoing existence of the pandemic in the Philippines and across the globe.
Following the turn over of office, the Department of Education (DepEd) which is now headed by Education Secretary and Vice President Sara Duterte confirmed that the resumption of full face-to-face classes is eyed by the Department this November 2022.
Initially, it was reported that the implementation of the face-to-face classes will start in phases this September in the pursuit to reach the full face-to-face classes in elementary and secondary schools by November.
Recently, in an order released by the Department of Education, DepEd cited the date set for the resumption of the full face-to-face classes in public and private elementary and secondary schools. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, until October 31, schools may implement:
- 3 days of in-person classes and 2 days of distance learning; or
- 4 days of in-person classes and 1 day of distance learning.
According to DepEd, the full face-to-face classes in the country will be done in November regardless of the alert level but schools must practice minimum health protocols. Students must wear face masks at all times and physical distancing will also be strictly observed.
