Robin Padilla Visits Leila De Lima in Camp Crame To Deliver Important Message

ROBIN PADILLA – Senator Robinhood Padilla visited former senator Leila De Lima in Camp Crame to deliver an important message.

Former senator Leila De Lima, who is detained in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City, was held hostage last Sunday, October 9, by fellow detainee Feliciano Sulayao Jr.

Sulayao attempted to escape the detention center along with fellow prisoners Arnel Cabintoy and Idang Susukan. The three are said to have stabbed a police officer before Cabintoy and Susukan were fatally shot by an attending law enforcement officer. De Lima was taken hostage by Sulayao when he managed to escape and reach her cell.

Later, responding members of the Special Action Force were able to disarm Feliciano Sulayao. Although Police Corporal Roger Agustin, the officer who was stabbed, was immediately brought to the hospital, Leila De Lima was unharmed.

Following the incident, the lawyer was admitted to the PNP General Hospital for “lingering chest pain”. In her statement, de Lima wrote that further monitoring and tests are conducted on her.

Based on a report from Inquirer, Robin Padilla visited Leila de Lima in Camp Crame and explained to her that the incident carried out by an Abu Sayyaf member is not part of the teachings of Islam. The actor-turned-senator said that his visit on Wednesday was made in his capacity as a Muslim and fellow Bicolano, not as a senator.

“Gusto ko po iparating sa kanya, kung anumang ginawa nitong Abu Sayyaf, ang nagawa nilang hindi maganda, nagawa nilang kaguluhan, terorismo o pananakot, yan ay hindi katuruan ng Islam,” he said.

According to the report, Robin said he had discussed the possibility of home furlough for the lawyer but PNP chief Gen. Adolfo Azurin Jr. said De Loma chose to stay in Camp Crame.

“Nirerespeto natin yan,” the senator said.

He also thanked Azurin for his public apology about some police officers’ incorrect usage of the term “Muslim” while referring to the hostage-takers.
