13 Construction Workers Nabbed Over Illegal Drug Caught Inside Army HQ

Police authorities arrested 13 construction workers in an anti-drug operation inside the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio.

13 construction workers were detained by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a buy-bust operation within the Fort Bonifacio headquarters of the Philippine Army. The PA said in a statement that the offenders’ suspected drug den was the building site.

The operatives kept watch on the building site for about a month. Based on the report, the accused were apprehended after a PDEA poseur buyer conducted business with them at the drug den inside the construction site.

“Joint operatives launched the drug sting after a month-long surveillance effort that ended with a PDEA poseur buyer transacting with the suspects at the drug den within the construction site,” said the Army.

The shabu was purchased outside the camp and brought in small sachets, said Army spokesperson Colonel Xerxes Trinidad. The arrested construction worker indicates that he and his fellow suspects pool their modest daily revenue to buy shabu to keep them alert and active while at work.

P88,000 worth of shabu was confiscated from the 13 suspects. Those caught are now in PDEA custody and are facing charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022.
