DSWD Removes 5 4Ps Beneficiaries from List After Pawning Cash Cards
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has removed five (5) beneficiaries of 4Ps for allegedly pawning their cash cards.
In Region 3, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) list was amended to exclude five beneficiaries. The beneficiaries in question allegedly pawned their cash cards, which led to their removal from the list.
Five were disqualified for pawning, according to DSWD Region 3 Grievance Officer Raquel Abrogena. Along with the five recipients, two other recipients were dropped from the list because they had persuaded several recipients to pawn their cash cards.
The DSWD firmly prohibits cash card pawning, based on the report. The continuing revalidation of 1.3 million beneficiaries of the 4Ps has resulted in the delisting of 187,000 beneficiaries nationwide by DSWD as of last month. Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez, a DSWD official, stated that the 1.3 million 4Ps beneficiaries had been classified as “non-poor.”
In the first data, Lopez claimed that 187,000 have been removed from the program, but they are going through revalidation “simply to make sure that those who will be delisted or will graduate are actually non-poor.”
This includes people who have willingly renounced their membership as well as those who have reached the point of “natural attrition” or who no longer have children living in their family. Lopez stated that a beneficiary’s expulsion from the 4Ps program is based on a number of factors.
