Criminology Student Earns Praises Online for Working as Tricycle Driver to Support Study
SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – A hardworking criminology student has been working as a tricycle driver just to support his studies.
A 23-year-old criminology student identified as Gerome Cuaño has been working and studying at the same time. The young man wanted to finish his studies and take his family out of poverty.
Cuaño was answering his learning modules while waiting for passengers at a terminal in San Fernando, Pampanga. He has two little children who inspired him to work hard to give them a better future.
The latter narrated that he was receiving a small salary from his previous jobs, which pushed him to become a tricycle driver. However, he decided to pursue college and enrolled in Our Lady of Fatima University.
“Siyempre naiingit po ako nu’n. Kaya simula po noon nangarap po ako. Nag-ipon po ako nu’n. Kapag kaya ko na po, mag-e-enroll po ako nu’n,” Cuaño said.
The president of Our Lady of Fatima University was moved after hearing the criminology student’s story. The latter received “Gawad Serviam” and the university canceled his remaining tuition fees. Cuaño will also receive P5, 000 grant for the second semester.
“Ang isang taong nangangarap ay walang imposible. Ituloy mo lang kung ano ang gusto mong pangarap at lagi mo lang tatandaan maraming nagmamahal sa paligid mo. Huwag mong isipin ang mga nanghihila sa iyo pababa,” the trike driver added.
