Sass Rogando Sasot Air Dismay to PBBM for Attending Concert in US
The transgender woman and LGBTQ activist Sass Rogando Sasot criticized President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr (PBBM) for attending a concert in the United States (US).
President Marcos Jr. was pictured in recent images attending an Eric Clapton concert in the US, according to Filipino vlogger RJ Nieto, also known as “Thinking Pinoy.” After visiting with the Filipino Community and meeting with various figures during his journey to America, the YouTuber disclosed the aforementioned PBBM activity.
Nieto claims that PBBM merely followed Clapton’s concert, which had barely 30 minutes remaining. The president returned immediately to the hotel where he is staying after the event, based on his post.
“He arrived at noon, checked in sa kanyang hotel, went straight to the Filipino Community meeting in Jersey, had a couple of meetings afterwards, then headed here to catch the last thirty minutes of the Eric Clapton concert, then went straight back to hotel” said Nieto in his Facebook post.
Many netizens, like Sass Rogando Sasot, an expert in international politics, could not help but criticize the aforementioned post by Nieto. Sasot argues that while it is acceptable for the President to unwind, it is disrespectful to display it while the country is still waiting for tangible results.
“There’s nothing wrong with the President “relaxing,” but it is bad optics to flaunt it while the nation is still awaiting concrete results & while his house seems to be not in order. Remember what happened to the Finnish PM? said Sasot in her post.
On social media, where he was spotted partying, the Finnish Prime Minister received criticism. In a different explanation, Sasot advised state officials to use caution in the information they disclose to the public.
“There’s already an impression of PBBM even before he became president about partying…Why should we add more to that?” she said.
